Remarkable, Ahead of Its Time!
DuckTales was definitely ahead of its time. The game is a platformer like many others on the NES.
What really sets DuckTales apart is the level of polish put into the game. For starters, Scrooge's cane added a different flavour to the game because you could either use it to bounce around (like a pogo stick) or hit blocks to slide them around (to either take out enemies or use as a platform to get to higher ground).
The game deviated from other platformers by also allowing you to play the levels in whatever order you chose but finishing certain levels unlocked rooms to collect more treasures. The game also had an alternate ending if you collected enough loot!
This game has a special place in my collection for the hours of gameplay it provided to me as a kid. The music is also phenomenal, check it out!
