One of the Greatest Games of All Time
Metroid will always have a special place in my heart. The fact that you have to explore the world and find all these secrets passages is enough to really seperate this game from those in which a high score is your only reward. I still remember the sure frustration when I first played this game. I didn't know where to go and didn't know about any of the secret passages. I really wanted to understand this game because it really drew me in with it's dark graphics, obscure music, and all around mystery. Needless to say after awhile I was getting a bit turned off since I was just going back and fourth until that faithful moment when I was just messing around as a morph ball, started randomly dropping bombs, and blew up one of those blocks on the ground! I couldn't believe it! I was one of the happiest gaming moments I remember. And the rest is history. Once you get over that hump (and realize everything isn't what it seems) this game REALLY opens up. Some of the things you have to do to get to the next section of the game can be pure genius but really rewards the player when you do solve it. I highly recommend this game to anyone with a NES who is up for a challenge.
